Looking at a few books, pens and interesting snacks we continued on and found a few restaurants and decided on Ruby's Diner.

After a few minutes our waiter Chris came along. We ordered two waters and choose to share a quesadilla and mozzarella balls. They were a piece of deep fried heaven. So cheesy ...

This is one of the few places we have eaten where they don't bring out nachos to start, such a relief. The interior of the restaurant was quite rustic and reminded me more of a Greek terverna. We had a glorious first full day in Mexico. We spent most of the day relaxing pool side sampling cocktails and reading our books. It was just what we all needed to get ourselves on "island time."

The town of Playa Del Carmen is an easy 20 minute stroll up the beach. Around sunset we headed that direction not really realizing what we were going to find. It is a combination of street fair and street party with crazy locals and even ...
