Apple crumble surprise

On Paraguayan Hospitality

Our last stop was on top of the dam, where we got a great view of the lake and the plain down below. We were struck by how flat the landscape was, which made it hard to imagine where the dam would have been placed. There must have been some sort of natural escarpment or something there.

On another day we discovered that not all great train journeys actually go anywhere. From around 1857 Paraguay was one of the first South American countries to have a railway. We visited the train museum, housed in the original main train station, Estacion del Ferrocarril, and filled with amazing relics of a forgotten era of train travel. ...
