... a coffee-table book published in 1974 with photos of Sicilian tourist attractions. Meanwhile, Rosa was fussing around getting coffee for us and presents for the children. We would still be there if I didn't stand up in the middle of it all and say goodbye [don't worry I was reasonably diplomatic]. Then we had to get some biscuits (well Flynn did) from the lady across the road. She even smiled. Gaetano came up to say goodbye and all the nonas turned out to wave us ...

I suffer information overload from the rich historical background shared by the guide. Or perhaps I was too distracted taking photos of the amazing structures by the sea... and just soaking it all in in whatever solitude I find away from the crowd. It is quite an experience being in monuments built more than two thousand years ago and still standing strong and proud.
