      ... there were a lot in the free area. The most picturesque was the Karamon Gate. I also walked a bit on the hillside, but I was not so enthusiastic and didn't explore much.

      ... to sing 'Sakura' in Japanese (& i actually still remember it to this day)... i was obsessed with Japan! What a lucky girl i was to be able to experience Japan for real, a few years later!

      Many more years later (just a few years ago), my son spent a year in Japan, going to school, when he was a teenager. Lucky boy! His siblings were quite jealous. That's him with a gaggle of Japanese school girls! :-) ------>

      ... tucked between our legs, we decided to head out to the pier that protruded from the beach several hundred yards into the ocean.
