People are usually really curious about this trip since it's a bit outside of the norms to travel to Botswana and Zambia.

Well this is what I say. We are young and healthy and most importantly without kids, and this may be (WILL be if you ask Chris, HA!) the last big adventure before we are hand checking strollers. Chris had a special request for his ...
Malmö, Skåne, Sweden amanda_schmelin... a re-construction of a large cog, based on a wreck found offshore about 10 years previously and also a small cog. There was also a medieval village with a blacksmith, a very small church, an armory and rope makers huts. We had fun trying on helmets, swords and cross-bows; made for some amusing pictures. Carrie also managed to try out the stocks and the chopping block; she still says the guide was a little too enthusiastic in his demonstration of the lash!
Malmö, Skåne Län, Sweden aldrichc... imagine the amount of planning that would have gone into a building that doesn't go straight up but instead twists itself around. We then set off to find something a little more historic. On the way we stopped at a massive supermarket to pick up some RedBull, which for some reason is illegal in Denmark. We then went and explored the city centre of Malmo with its pedestrian walking streets. We sat in a park in the centre of town ...
Malmö, Skåne, Sweden tom_white_5588... 9 CAD), which isn't traditional in terms of high Danish prices! I ended up with three smorrebrod and a meat ball for that price - the meat ball was like a greasy little burger, and the texture was a little bit like a Vietnamese spring roll, with lots of shredded veggies interwoven with the meat. Good stuff! The roast beef sandwich was served with sprouts, some wicked fried onions that are popular in Scandinavia, lettuce, and ...
Copenhagen, Denmark pwongStaffan's brother Mårten is planning on selling his apartment that he has owned for over 10 years so to help him out we took pictures of his place wide angle and all to prep for the sale. Taking pictures in small places is rather tricky and moving furniture around is key to success as well as having a flexible wrist when you need to angle the camera in various ways. It is funny to move around stuff and stage rooms with fresh ...
Malmö, Sweden vcruz... left the sailing to them. Races from all over the south of Sweden came to this race. About 20 teams were entered to compete. And a race center with varying sponsor booths was setup so I wasn't bored out of my mind on shore. The great thing about this event was that it was short races of about 15 to 20min and everything could be viewed from the shore, hence City Sailing. So I was able to take a great many pictures of all ...
Malmö, Sweden vcruz... a pretty happy man. Today's incident made me think that if I ever planned another lengthy trip like this again, I would do some research and figure out which international flights get over-booked the most often. I would then select those flights to be on my RTW ticket and just maybe I can recover a majority of the ticket's cost while I travel if those flights do indeed end up being overbooked again. Somone should try it. The odds would work for them. When I went to pick up my ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark dinovagabond... which I'd get wet, took away a part of the fun. But weather is weather, no matter what we think of it. I went down the Vesterbrogade towards the railway station with an intention to see if there was a possibility for me to use my Inter Rail ticket on Friday to Helsingør. I passed by Tivoli Gardens amusement park, one of the most famous in Europe, leaving a visit to it for later, when I took a look around the city. Railway station was right there, around the corner. It did not ...
København, Denmark the_wayfarerwe arrived at noon off the train and had to check into our ferry at 4... so how do you see a city in 4 hours??... well, you luck out and have a friend who lives there and is willing to give you the condensed tour! Kerryn took us out for a fantastic lunch at her old workplace and then showed us Christiania, which is a wikked little hippy type commune in the middle of the city... in the 70's a bunch of people were ...
Copenhagen, Denmark nothingThe plane landed around 9:30am, and I leisurely followed the flow of traffic through Heathrow airport, towards security. I wasn't concerned about anything, as I knew I had a decent layover, so I stood contently in line. Around 9:45 I decided to have a peek at my ticket, and realized my flight was at 10:35! I'd forgotten that the plane was an hour late leaving Toronto, and my two-hour layover had shrunk to one hour! I started getting a little worried, which turned into a ...
