    ... lavender flowers. They looked like something out of a cartoon as the colour was so unusual and vibrant. Pilgrim's Rest was flooded with hopeful miners after the first gold nugget was discovered and then all left after the gold was no more. The town remains exactly as it had in the age of the gold mines. Not realizing we would be stopping for lunch we were quite full from pancakes so we opted for a small salad in the historic town.     ... restaurants opening as well. Very cool hipster spot. We ate perogies, dumplings, dried beef tongue and dried chili sticks. We washed it down with hand crafted beers made by a few guys who recently quit their day jobs in IT to start a brewery. Great day! Heading out for pizza tonight and back early for a good night sleep before taking off tomorrow for Kruger National Park. Will post again ...

    We drove to the spot where we had seen the crocodile in hopes of seeing him again. The morning was too chilly, so I took misty morning photos instead. We learned that queen termites live up to 70 years. When they die, the entire nest gives up, as they have no reason to live. These large empty nests then become homes to Mongoose, Hyenas and other animals.

    ... everybody else. There had been no leopard sightings. We struggled to maintain focus late in the day and were settling for photos of zebras to wake us up.
