I really like LA. The weather, the culture and diversity of restaurants. Santa Monica, Hollywood, Rodeo Drive. It's a spectacular city. I spent 3 weeks there in 1984 and I have enjoyed going back ever since.
Drove to Disneyland. Rick drove, Cathy navigated and Grandma prayed. Teamwork payed off and we had a very good, incident free trip to our motel. Caught a shuttle to Disneyland and did the original Disneyland Park. First stop was Fantasyland where Grandma enjoyed the teacup ride and the carousel. She particularly loved Toontown. By mid afternoon, I was very tired so we took a long break over a cup of tea and some food which meant that we didn't get ...
... with massive elephant statues that were all lit up. There is a great view of the Hollywood sign from here but we didnt realise until it was dark so going back again!!
We walked home from the subway and went via a supermarket to get American confectionary items such as Reeces pieces, Twizzlers and Hershey's.
We had a great first day! Off to Universal today which I'm sure I will enjoy!!

Despite much advice to the contrary, and even after two stops, we sailed into LA at 11.30 - a little over five and a half hours drive. Woo hoo!!! Damn the critics I say.

Fabulous Hotel. great service, wonderful rooms and spectacular restaurants. The hotel is modern but has a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
