    ... it's an hour long wait now, imagine nice weather!

    One thing you'll notice here in winter: scorching hot heating in stores and trains, feels like you're being cooked alive, then painfully arctic cold outside. The constant temperature changes all the time make you feel loopy and whoozy, I find it makes me feel extra burnt out by the end of the day. Looking forward to visiting in spring or summer next time!!

    After a fantastic sleep in the apartment, Justin and I were off to spend the day in Nikko. We were both pretty pumped because it was our first taste of Japan in a more natural historical setting rather then the big city!     ... of the road over the river. Onwards from that was the Toshogu Shrine, one of the most decorated in all of Japan. It was really special to visit it as it was very beautiful. we must of walked around for a couple of hours before leaving and by then there wasn't much time left in nikko so we filled it with a little wander around the old towns back streets and a eating some matcha (green tea) ice cream.

    ... locations on the departure board never quite fit with the ones researched online. So I gambled and queued patiently with the locals while the train was cleaned and got on the one leaving at 8.08 hoping it was the only one leaving then. Thankfully it was! Initially the train was slow however once it had cleared Tokyo it really picked up speed.     ... easy to find professional quality images of such locations on the internet. Instead I prefer to capture scenes that evoke something of the mood that permeates a place. The two Geishas going for a walk on the iconic Shinkyo bridge was a lucky coincidence.
