After 6 days in the Outback I can use the Internet again :) Mam, Jess and I had a great time exploring the Outback from Australia. Uluru, Coober Pedy, Quorn, Flinders Ranges ... just to name a view of them :) Now we're staying in Adelaide. Had a great sleep yesterday - no mosis who tortured me :D I'm really the perfect repellent for my beloved ones …

... is no clearer than in the pronunciation of the name of the city of Cairns. Aussies say "Cans" so I have been corrected every time I pronounce the "r." Then there is the whole issue of "scons" and "scones" so I just say "tea biscuit."

Proper names are also shortened if they contain more than one syllable. Trevor is "Trev," Kevin is "Kev" etc but Barry is "Baz"

As for the slang, it ranges from Cockney rhyming slang, " Let’s ‘ave ...

... het 'take out menu of the day' voor twee personen. Ik weet niet hoeveel twee personen normaal gesproken eten in Australië, maar naar onze maatstaven was het zeker genoeg voor 4-5 personen. Een compleet menu met basa, crabsticks, dim sum, een soort aardappelkoekjes en chips. Veel en veel te veel, maar wel erg lekker! Vanuit daar gingen we naar Otway (ik weet ff niet meer of dat nou een gebied of een plaats was) en daar deden we een boomtoppen pad. Erg leuk, ...

... kangaroos langs de weg, geen radio of telefoon bereik en een lange rechte weg tot aan de horizon.
Er was geen wolkje aan de lucht. Dat terwijl we die ochtend op de radio hoorden dat er super erge thunderstorms, extreme rain fall en tornado’s gaande waren in Sydney (niet zo ver van ons af). Wat een geluk!
