The Rydges was a wonderful hotel to spend for a night or a few. Centrally located near many bars and restaurants, and walking distance to many of Perths attractions.
The rooms are beautiful, spacious and clean.

Nice room and good service but the breakfast was disappointing. Very expensive for what you got, but we did get a free voucher for a coffee or tea!!!

    Historical Traveler Reviews Rydges Perth

    Very, very average

Stayed for 2 sets of 2 days while touring Western Australia. First time we arrived, there was no one to help us in with our bags. We were clearly struggling with all our cases but nobody offered to help. Wait for check-in was over 15 minutes as there seemed to be just 1 person dealing with guests. Got a room on the Executive Floor which was OK but not much more than that. The views from the room were stunning but we chose the Executive floor because of the lounge with coffee etc available. The lounge itself smelled of smoke and was quite musty. The coffee machine was broken and the breakfast we had there was barely acceptable. It was just the little things that annoyed us - things like the heating in the room being on full blast when we arrived on a day where it was heading to 35 degrees. We asked about the pool and found out it's actually in a Health Club next door where the staff seemed to be totally uninterested. The pool isn't heated. Had to ask for towels at reception and were told there weren't any available. Kicked up a fuss and eventually the manager came out with towels. Just seems a general lack of attention to detail. Whole hotel needs an update and a new attitude - maybe Marriott staff could train them!

Feedback such as yours is important to us as they afford us an opportunity to review our procedures and effect enhancements. Therefore I appreciate you taking the time in informing Rydges Perth to reflect a less than impressive stay.

Firstly let me apologise for the lack of service when you arrived, the Hotel consistently meets guest expectations and on this occasion we were unable to provide the level of service that you required and based on this feedback will be working on solutions to overcome any future delays at reception and availability of porters.

I apologise for the heating being on when you returned from the day, as standard protocol is not to touch any settings in the room when the room is serviced. I have marked this to the attention of the Executive Housekeeper.

The Executive floor is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment, particularly the food and beverage options available. I take on board your comments, however there is also an alternative to have breakfast in the CBD restaurant should the continental breakfast on offer not be acceptable due to no hot items.

The pool and gymnasium is located adjacent to the Hotel, however it is a fully equipped commercial gymnasium which no hotel based gymnasium could offer similar equipment and aerobic/pump classes complimentary as part of the accommodation stay. We have continual positive feedback on this offering and we are sorry that this was not communicated to you prior to your stay.

Rydges Perth is currently in the process of spending in excess of $4 million dollars on refurbishing the Hotel from new beds, carpets, curtains, occasional furniture, ergonomic chairs and the Hotel conference level. We are currently 50% completed and will be finished mid March.

I am sorry that our service standards did not meet your expectations on this occasion and will definitely be working on areas of concern

    Friendly staff, great location

Friendly reception staff on arrival & this level of service flowed through to all areas of the hotel. Food selection in the CBD Restaurant was wide & very tasty! The CBD Bar is a popular spot amongst the locals as well & they offer a great selection of beers & local wines. Rooms have just been refurbished and beds are really comfy. Hotel is just down the road from the city shopping malls & heaps of other local attractions within walking distance

Thank you for taking the time to review Rydges Perth. We are very proud of the Hotel and facilities, in particular the Food and Beverage offerings in our award winning CBD Restauarnat and Bar.

CBD restaurant and Bar has won the Western Australia Hotel Association best Hotel restaurant for 3 years (2001/2/3)and then 2 years in the Hall of Fame and then again in 2006.

Rydges Perth is currently in the process of spending in excess of $4 million dollars on refurbishing the Hotel from new beds, carpets, curtains, occasional furniture, ergonomic chairs and the Hotel conference level.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Rydges Perth in the near future

    Conference stay

Stayed for a national conference - great new accommodation rooms - stayed in a King room - lovely outlook and very clean.

Attended a cocktail and presentation at a function room on Level 1 - very impressed with service and quality of food.

Staff at the cocktail party were very attentive, professional and friendly. First time to Perth from the east coast - will try my best to get back to Perth.

    Highly recommended!

Thank you very much for the positive feedback of our Conference facilities. We have spent over $1.8 million dollars on upgrading the conference levels and are continuing to exceed expectations regarding the service and environment of this facet of the Hotels experience.

I look forward to welcoming you back in some capacity in the near future

    #1 in Perth CBD

The Rydges has certainly stepped up in the Perth hotel market over the last few months - and much of this is to do with the introduction of a new GM there who has taken a very personal interest in his hotel's reputation and ability to attract return patronage. The Club facilities are fabulous and it has been terrefic to see the changes in service level and standards roll out over the last few months.

Well done and congrats to all. Food, service, facilities (Telstra hotspot wireless etc) are all attractive features that keep me coming back.

A specialty cocktail is the Red Bikini and comes highly recommended!

Thank you for the favourable comment on the Hotel and our facilities. We have been working hard over the past year and will continue to create a unique experience and won that service culture is our main focus, as well as red bikinis in this instance. The cocktail in question is the work of Sam our Bar supervisor and I have passed on your comments.

We look forward to continuing to exceed your expectations and once again thank you for your comments

Good Quality Hotel in a central location

Stayed at this hotel for three nights in March 2006. It is in a good central location close to shops, bars restaurants etc. The room was a good size, comfortable and the fixtures and fittings were in good condition. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast more than adequate. We also ate in the hotel restaurant and found it to be one of the best we had eaten in while in perth. All in all, good value for money

Thank you for the comments regarding your stay, in particular the Food and Beverage comments. We are very proud of our achievements in the CBD Restaurant and Bar being an award participant in the Western Australia Hotels Association over the past 6 years. We won the award in 2001, 2002, 2003, hall of fame for the next 2 years and won the award again this year.

We are looking forward to the competition of our refurbishment in 2007 to all rooms that will reward our guests with more superior comfort

    Romantic Weekend

Highly recommended for both overseas and local guests.

The only hotel that had a wide range of accomodation packages. I organised a night in the Spa Suite at the Rydges for my husbands birthday and the night became a treat for the both of us.

Both of us experience travellers, were very impressed in the high quality service from friendly staff from both the hotel and the CBD Restuarant. The hotel helped organise special dinner arrangements to include a surprise birthday dessert, complete with Roman candles.

We are always trying to create packages with a difference and appreciate your positive comments towards what our offerings are.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future and to celebrate another birthday

    Excellent hotel - very central

The Rygdes in Perth is in an excellent location just off the main pedestrian shopping street. It is a very modern, clean hotel with good contemporary large reception and particularly helpful staff.

There is a cafe/restaurant at the front of the hotel with pavement seats too, which is popular with locals. This does really good breakfasts - buffet breakfast or off menu for porridge etc. The rooms are large and very quiet. We were firstly put in a room behind the lift which was noisy, and after one night they willingly changed us to a quiet room.

The best thing about the hotel is its location - can walk to the train station in 10 mins and right by all the main shops. You can also pick up the open top bus tour outside the hotel and walk down to the front in 15 mins, which is a nice walk. It is good in that it is away from the main nightlife area (Northbridge) so fairly quiet at night.

Easy to walk to restaurants and bars - the main ones are really in Northbridge.

Overall a very good qualtiy hotel. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

    Good location

The location of this hotel is ideal with short walks to the mall, convention centre and also the train station for a short trip out to Fremantle. However, the room furnishings were average - blanket had a cigarette burn and both sofa chairs looked dirty. The worse though was been bitten by bed bugs - 4 nights there in total and was quite extensively bitten!

    Superb Hotel!

I can't speak highly enough of this hotel. Our first visit to Australia couldn't have started off better. The room was luxurious and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Excellent buffet breakfast. In an ideal position a few minutes walk from the shopping malls. We did notice that Qantas obviously have a high opinion too as they use this hotel for their crew when stopping over in Perth. I would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting Perth

After a cruise up swan river, we stop at Fremantle to pick up more passengers and then head off to rottenest island. We then go on an adventure cruise where we see humpback whales, dolphins and New Zealand seals. We then head back to the island to have our picnic. Went on tour to see quokkas and see our first poisonous snake in the wild called a dugite. Stopped off at the Lucky Shag bar for dinner on the way back for dinner. Quinoa salad with grilled chicken was ...

... The inner city is eclectic - a harsh mix of old and new. Vagrants. My walk to the apartment I see an Eastern woman kicking and spitting at a homeless man. A youth steals a T-shirt from a shop, puts it on in front of everyone and walks away ignoring the shop attendant shouting after him. He defiantly rips off the label and throws it on the sidewalk. People sleeping in doorways. Dirty streets. One should never arrive in a new city on a Saturday ...

I don’t recall if I mentioned this in a previous blog, but Agostino is on a mission to try Tiramisu from any and all restaurants around the world, and Siderno’s tiramisu met nicely with his expectations. ... s winter, it was only a light shade around the shores and normal blue/green lake color in the middle. It still looked awesome though.

We began walking and on the map in the center of the island was a lake named, cleverly enough, "Pink Lake", so we figured, 'Okay, these other lakes are kind of pink, but that one must be the most pink', so we began walking to it. We finally found it, and of the many lakes we past, this was probably ...
