Corner of North Street & Landsborough Parade Caloundra, Queensland, Australia, 4551, 61-7-5491-0333-
... for the night; got there after closing but the manager opened the office and checked us in. Decided to take advantage of the park’s modern spacious camp kitchen and barbecued some pork chops; with a salad of D’entrecasteau leaves and the usual bottle of red wine, in this case Merlot, we enjoyed a quick tasty meal and fell into bed, totally tired. Took a lovely stroll on the beach the next morning and headed off to our next destination.
Caloundra, Queensland, Australia kathandsheila... then his glasses... then his coat!!!!! We saw 3 dolphins which were amazing. We sailed close to Fraser island headed for Platypus Bay (about a 1 hour trip out). We then saw our first humpback whale!!!! It was about 400metres ahead of us and was playing in the water. The whales stop in the bay to give birth to their calves in warmer waters. Emma had took her hat off and had it on her lap... it didn't stay there for long as when she took the camera out of ...
Caloundra, Queensland, Australia benandem24... Islands (north of Madagascar). similar in size and shape to the famous Galapagos Giant Tortoise, their shell averages 47 inches long and can weigh over 600 lbs! the two we saw were only in their early 30's and (only) weighed around 350 lbs --teenagers really. the Giant Tortoise species are known to live upwards of 160 years and in fact, the previously oldest living tortoise was the much loved Harriet, a Galapagos Giant Tortoise ...
Beerwah, Queensland, Australia katelin... Surfer's Paradise war sonst was los!
Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia pacificocean... paved backroad I found in a guide book, called the Mary Valley tourist road, through Anamoor, Kandanga, Imbil, and Brooloo, Kenilworth, to Maleny then Monteville. We stopped in Monteville, such a neat little spot, unfortunately everything was just closing for the day, lots of little neat shops and cafes. On to the Kondalilla waterfalls, but the hike was longer and not advisable after dark, so continued on to our campsite for the night "The lilypond" at ...
Caloundra, Queensland, Australia shannonm... in the carpark and they look satisfied with the animals they have seen, fortunately they had seen some koalas and could pet them too! It was a stinking hot day and our request that they pack an overnight bag with comfy clothes and maybe something nice, was not received very well, I think I saw the red, flustered faces get a little worse. We stopped in at the scenic lookout to view The Glass House Mountains, named by Captain Cook for their ...
Moreton Island, Queensland, Australia kevandrach... cyclonic whirly rain. and guess what we hadn't put the doors on! Doh!!! Chitties poor little one windscreen wiper couldn't cope, we could'nt see a thing, if fact there was as mush water on the inside of the windscreen as on the outside. Caloundra, Queensland, Australia npointing... back in town in a nightclub! We finished the night off walking home with 2 Germans and an Irish guy. We stopped for a break on the footpath half way home and Colin and our Irish friend tried to teach the 2 Germans some Irish. It was very funny. We finally hit the hay about 4 and got woken up twice with 2 false fire alarms going off. So instead of waking up refreshed and eager for our trip to Brisbane the 2 of us woke up pretty wrecked!
Noosa Heads, Australia colandsand... roos and the local stork which is called a jabiru. and there is a pink and grey bird called a gallah that looks like a parrot. brush turkeys ran around our tents in 1770. preying mantis and spiders as big as my hand have caught me by surprise. and the cicadas are so loud, you can hear them through the closed car window going at 120 km/hr! it has been an adventure for sure!
Caloundra, Australia ireneandjason... up as well, along with some Irish girls. We played a supersized version of Jenga, which I am proud to report I did not once spill. I even met some local Brissy girls - a first for me. After setting a mandatory going home time of 11 pm for myself, due to my early bus the next morning, I finally managed to pull myself from the bar at 12:15. Getting off the train in Albion I heard someone yell my name and who is it but ...
