Sad to leave beautiful Kas with it's lovely warm weather and the lovely staff at the hotel and the rooftop terrace overlooking the water. Most hotels in Turkey give you a wonderful buffet breakfast with cereals, cold meats, cheeses and salads and hot eggs and other foods too.

At this hotel we had a dinner of a vegetarian buffet with bbq chicken, fish or meat, and a soup and dessert for a really reasonable price of A$12.

Onward days included going to the famous Olu Deniz lagoon and beaches and then on to Butterfly Valley by the shuttle boat where Lonely Planet promised us 40 varieties of butterflies to be seen…...we saw 4. The bus system is easy to navigate paying a few lira to get downtown, a bustling area of of shopping and nightlife. I did the five island tour which was beautiful but I would have much rather taken a day trip to Rhodes Island. However, swimming in the dead sea (Oludeniz) and paragliding have to be one of my best experiences in Fethiye.

... to the beach below. The area's generous wind currents and scenery make it a world-renowned spot for these types of sports, although we did not venture up the mountainside to give it a try. Instead, we decided to wander the beach and make our way to the heralded blue lagoon, located toward the end of the large inlet. The beach at Orludeniz is a mix of sand and rock - not one of the finer beaches we've seen, and as we walked further toward "God's great gift", ...

... tucking into food and drink.

Explored the rest of the town centre, lots of shops. You could do really well clothes shopping here; we resisted though, will do that back in Istanbul a. if we have the cash and b. when we get another suitcase and our Emirates baggage limit! Did buy some beach towels though.

So off on the boat tomorrow, will spend a bit of cash tomorrow on that up front but then it’s all paid for the next three nights ...
