A Bit of Culture & touch of Mystery

... The story goes that this 14th century church was slowly inundated by sand. The locals fought in vain to save it but by the middle of the 18th century they applied to the then king for permission to give up the fight and the contents were sold and the church by 1810, was nothing but a tower, left in situ and maintained as a useful landmark for passing boats.
