      ... Iron Works building, stroll through the famous Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom areas of the city, and get to see Zombies stroll. However, the most important part of our stay in this lovely southern city is the time we got to spend reconnecting with our son and family.

      ... danced until closing. Today we spent the day in Koblenz...Joannne toured The Marksburg Castle.....the rest of the group took a personal tour of the area and rode the tramway up to the fortress.       ... Hill is a promontory at the end of the ridge above the city with very steep sides. Marye's Heights is a ridge preceded by flat land with quite a steep rise of about 200ft. To get to the heights, the Union army had to cross about 3/4 mile of flat land with no cover except a couple of isolated houses.
      No prizes for guessing this outcome. Repeated Northern attacks were repulsed over 2 days. Casualties - ...

      Thunderstorms rolled through our area on Thursday, knocking out power for a quarter million people, including us. Lights went out around 3:15, just as I was showing a caterpillar to the Ag Extension guy in Goochland (verifying that it was not Gypsy moth--perpetrator of massive defoliation in numerous Virginia counties, but not yet a problem in Goochland County--but rather Buck Moth, harmless in its adult form but delivers a nasty dose of poison in its caterpillar ...

      ... from the road will soon overtake this anxiety and leave me eager for all that is to come - the different languages, cultures, the fun of trying to eat vegetarian in a foreign country... All of it is why I love to travel. I know this trip will be worth all of the worry and axiety.
