    Fort Mac early departure

A travel blog entry by allanamue on Jul 31, 2014

... were only in Fort Mac to work at the mines for decent money and a different experience. We could work at a standard clinic at home. So if we can't earn the amount of money we hoped we might as well be out working on a ranch or farm which we initially hoped to do. Bit of a turn of events. But the search has begun for Ranch work, I had previously been in contact with a few farms so that was handy to fall back to. Currently just finding the right opportunity for us and ...

... its across from the sporting fields and walking distance to the shops. The other places that were any good had more than 6 people in the home, mostly men, so we were very happy that its just Anna, Bree and I. Less people to please, no difficulty with different shift workers and all nice and tidy.

Happy to be moved in and not missing our friends at Walmart too much, we cooked up dinner for Anna and had our first meal together to say thanks.

It's t-20 hours until we leave for Honduras. I should probably start packing.... Or I could do that later. I am so excited, words can not convey it. Excited to see my old friends in Honduras, excited to meet new ones, excited to see all the little kiddies again and to stumble through my Spanish. Excited to share the first principles programs with the Hondurans and ...

The Road King has excelled, two up, with luggage, 9141 km travelled, Fort McMurray, through Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Alberta, British Columbia, then Alberta and back to ...

    Departing Fort McMurray

The whole area up here is vast, the only north running river in the world, refineries, trucks and even family cars are all super sized. The pace during summer is frantic with construction at its peak in an attempt to use the scant time before the snow starts in a few short months. Everyone is using this time to get out and do things, the animals included. But beware, if it moves it is on the menu, bison burgers, rudolf steaks, and Elk sliders are all here. Fortunately ...
