... the way we stopped in Olvera so Mike could get his photo of the village and church tower. We arrived to Nerja very late and couldn't plug in the address in our handy-dandy gps - so we had to call the owner in the UK to give us directions. it was kind of late by the time we got to the house (after midnight). ugh! this was a long, long day! But, we're excited to be at the beach for the next 7 days. Shae can't wait to get her feet wet in the mediterranean.
... order to get an early start in the morning.
Shae question for daddy: She's riding on his shoulders..."Daddy does everyone have hair in their ears? or just you? It's white hair"
Another one, Daddy is trying to get out of the parking garage in Ronda. It's very steep. He stalled the car 5 times and someone was behind him.. I'm laughing hard and Shae is laughing. She says, "Daddy you're a knucklehead." I really don't know where she gets that...;)
... He loved it! Shae and I did a hike which was beautiful. These mountains are massive. We saw a couple of riders and thought of Bob. I'm sure the Spaniards train here for the tour. They are so steep and it's crazy climbing. Bob would have loved it! We drove around the area and then headed back to a town called Olvera where mike saw another great shot he wanted to take, but unfortunately we arrived after magic time so ...
Grazalema, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands stacicheck... body rash, hives, tongue swelled up, nausea, etc. It was bad. I call the emergency number at the Palo Alto medical clinic and talked to their on call doctor. He advised taking him to the hospital if he didn't get better within an hour. Thankfully, he started to get better, the rash disappeared, the nausea went away. The only thing was the pain in his ankle where the bee stung him. That lasted for quite a while. So, long story short we stayed in ...
Montejaque, Andalusia, Spain stacicheck... came out of the safe port in Cadiz. British naval-battle tactics were fast and aggressive, cutting through the French line and reining hell into the lightly defended aft of the French ships; the cannonballs mowed through everything up the length of the ship, leaving a bloodbath – then turning to deliver mercilessly broadsides to the crippled ships. Flotsam & bodies washed up on Cape ...
Arcos de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands thedicksons... a teenager on a 50cc scooter whizzes past us, trailing white, acrid smoke. Pretty soon (for the old Arcos is pretty small) we come upon a mirador (viewpoint.) From here you can see most of the old town, complete with the terraces. All of the scooters we'd seen are also here, their riders gathered in a small group on the steps of the mirador, chattering happily (something about smoking from what I could tell), and looking out toward ...

Seville, Spain benandtrudie... and the thick smell of incense all joined together in the square to await San Pedro, who eventually made his way into the evening sunlight carried atop a hefty float. San Pedro is basically a statue that only emerges from the church once every 25 years, so the last time he saw the light of day President Reagan was in his first year of office. I watched the people applaud, heard the church bells ring, smelled the clouds of scented air, and watched with the townspeople as the ...
Arcos de la Frontera, Spain the_stamms... She cooks well but.... it's cheap. Nothing too elaborate. So last night we went and ate at this baked potato place, so so. Then today we ate at Fosters. It's an american restaraunt, but lacks the flavor of good american food. The cool part of the place is it's in an old train station / mall. Went to our project site today to do some measuring (starting to get the hang of this metric thing I think, I guessed a measurement right) and ...
Seville, Spain lkjr77... make a pit stop to buy Adam a new shirt and purchase 2 umbrellas for Adam and Sarah, as well as having clothes that still are awaiting a place to dry out. We now can share with you all the most shittiest accommodation we have had so far, the 3 of us ,for a lot of money, were put into a room not bigger than our hallway or an old school corridor, plus a shower (mega dodgey no cutain that turned the tiny 1 metre room into an olympic pool) also ...
