Thanksgiving...Spanish style

... some time in Retiro Park (similar to Central Park in NYC) before we went to The Pardo museum for a few hours. I as pretty shot early in the night from my classes that day and thus Scott and I headed to bed early so we could get up at a decent time to head to Granada,
Since I am living between my homestay and the hostal this week while everyone visits, Scott and I had to get up quite early so I could head back to my homestay to grab some more clothes and drop ...

To the Alhambra...

19 Nov
After a 6 hour drive, (we´ve now covered around 1,600miles since leaving Bmth ) we enter Granada just b4 dark. Granada is the gateway to the Sierra Nevada, and our intention is to stay 2nights, mainly so we can spend one day in the Alhambra. We pitch our tent just b4 dark, the campsite conveniently located 5km outside Granada. We immediately notice a sharp (can see our breath!) drop in temperature, so after a camp meal and a couple of ...

... also amazing. We made our way to a park, which had so many trees, and there was an exhibit on the environment. I thought it was cool how there was a picture there of Canyon de Chelly all the way in Spain. I don't even thing Canyon de Chelly is a well known place in general. After walking around I really wanted some famous free tapas and we got some. A euro fifty for a cana and a free tapa. They gave me some kind of chicken and vegetables. It was ...

Getting my "blood" flowing!

... how I’ll feel about it when I get there. It is only 6.50 € so even if it’s upsetting at least it didn’t cost too much!

I’ve had a cold for the past few days and I’m trying to get rid of it before we leave for Madrid so I haven’t been doing many exciting things. After Madrid I’m sure I’ll have lots to write about. Until then, ¡Hasta luego!, or as the Granadans say it ¡’ta luego!

... the elderly. Luckily I made it to school on time.

After class, the masses of people had dwindled. I was told that tomorrow, there would be even more people for the Corpus Christi parade.

Many students from the residence will be going to the fair tonight. I went on Monday so I really don´t feel up to the crowds of people again. We´ll see though. Maybe I´ll have a change of heart.

... long conversations with a 60 year old woman from France, travelling on her own, and a Korean girl. (South Korea of course, if you go out the North you get killed) Basically I am waiting because I want to go to a certain Arabic kind of restaurant because I saw they have many vegetables on the menu, but since Spanish usually do not go out earlier than 21h I thought it would probably not be open yet. After this writing I anyhow go and see if it is open and ...

Granada, old friends and good eats!!!

... made for a great afternoon. I was a little nervous to go and pay the 12 euros to go see another palace. I was pretty happy just to take in another day of walking the streets. Lucky for me The Alhambra Palace is again, like none other. The Morrish knew how to do things when they built this remarkable building. The details in the architecture is nothing like I have seen yet. Looking like it was done with computer, the intricate tile work on the walls ...

Gorgeous Granada

... got a taxi and were on our way to our hotel. I found our hotel on the Trip Advisor website. I had no idea what it would be like, except for the pictures I had seen on the hotel's website and the reviews people had left on Trip Advisor. From the reviews and the pictures, it looked like it would be a charming, little hotel. I had looked for a hotel that was nearby La Alhambra. I had looked for hotels that had historical signficance, but they ...

... multiple choice grammar, and well on the essay...but my oral was terrible! I was way nervouse and had a hard time expressing myself in spanish...so I told the lady that, explained to her my circumstances, and told her that I thought it would be best for me to be in advanced intermediate. The only problem with that placement, is now that I've been in class for 2 days, I feel like the vocabulary level is good for me, but the grammar is WAY ...

... time at which point he said, "oh ****" as if something terrible had happened, but the second time went smoothly with only a little pain. After the relief of getting that over with, i packed, showered, and we splurged a little and went out to eat what turned out to be a meal. He then walked me to my bus stop and we said our sad goodbyes. I boarded my Barcelona bound overnight bus where I would catch my flight to Venice for the last leg of my trip that I would spend alone.
