    Vladimir & Suzdal - The Golden Ring

    ... exhibition in the Golden Gates museum, focussed primarily on the Mongol invasion of Vladimir in the 13th century. The Golden Gates, built in 1164 are the only preserved ancient Russian city gates and they mark what was once the western entrance to Vladimir. The massive arch supports a church and is flanked by two castle-like structures.

    ... I took the time to sit and admire the countryside which was visible behind said cathedral, where rivers stretched for miles and oceans of pine and other winter trees stood so thick. Hopefully by Monday I will have pictures of these fantastic places to show you guys, but with all being said I am enjoying this venture even though the bulk of it lays onward I am both eager and excited to share with everyone the tale as it unfolds,

    ... and got back to Vladimir. It was still raining out but I wanted to see one or two sights, so I dropped off my luggage at the left luggage room at the train station, braved the cold and wet (yep still raining) and made my way up to the Golden Gate on Vladimir's main street.
