... easy to use. NY subways could learn a lot from these Brits. We ate at the Tortoise and the Hare which is an oriental noodle bar. The food was outstanding and cheap for London standards at only ~15 pounds including beer.
Strolled back to the room eating truffles and to prepare for a full day of finally touring London itself!

... St we found Hamleys Toy store which we had visited in 2001 with our son, Lucas. This was also where I bought Hamlet, my little stuffed dog who always travels with me but who in my haste I left behind this trip. Of course we had to go in.
By the time we left Hamleys it was 4.30pm and we discovered that this is when the footpaths become congested. We ventured up Carnaby St for old times sake and then to Oxford Circus ...
... Sugar (they are accepting orders from the US now...I have placed mine and ordered 4 fluffy nougats). After brunch, I headed over to The Globe Theater. it was Shakespeare birthday that week and was celebrating it's first play of the season, Romeo & Juliet. I bought my ticket, took pictures and started walking along the SouthBank.
I, then jumped on the tube and headed over to Green Park. I made reservations at Wolseley for an afternoon high tea. The Ritz next door didn ...
I stayed in my friend's sister's apartment for my weekend in London! My friend, Shevon, is from Ghana (http://www.luventicus.org/maps/africa/ ghana.html), and she was in my program in Valencia. In London, I visited the Tower of London, Tower bridge, a Malaysian culture festival, the West end, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben. I also saw many sites on a bus tour I took. It took Shevon and I sometime to figure ...

Heathrow, London, United Kingdom tina.bill... I went so that shouldn't have been a surprise. I got a scarf for a fiver at Peacocks and I'm writing about it here because I am very happy with it! ;-) So it took me four days to get something of a well-working routine to get to and from work; I tried trains, DLR and tubes and busses but in the end it was too easy to just catch the 53 to Bricklayers arms at 04.45 and the 42 from there to Liverpool St. at 05.18. Though on the 13th I ...
London, United Kingdom verlander... the air flying between Auckland, NZ and Santiago, Chile! As I result - and despite checking every possible option - I can't make my best mate's wedding, so it was great to have a good catch-up over a few of Suffolk's finest, Adnams bitter, at a very impressive GBP 4.40 per pint?! (OVER FOUR QUID A BEER, ARE YOU SERIOUS?!) I honestly don't know how we afford to live in London, it really is ridiculously expensive?! lots of love, Al & Katie xx
London, United Kingdom al_fey... s $8.00!) But it has been worth it. London is very hip, chic, modern of a city, and there is so much going on. It's nice to have a place to stay here, and we hope to come back and do London right someday. The beer is good and the cod and chips are amazing. We met Katie and her boyfriend Andrew after work at a pub, which was packed - all of them were, you know how those English love ...
London, United Kingdom rossihohn... on a tricycle. Guess what I chose considering the sun and heat. Unfortunately the poor lad that got the short straw was only about 14 and skinny as a rake. However, he managed to climb every mountain despite the two heavyweights in the back. The beaches in Rio are beautiful and Iīm sorry we didnīt have time to make more of them. Loved the district of Lapa for live music and South American atmosphere. Also loved the caiperhinas (sp) lemony cocktails. Delicious ...
Parati, Brazil joyceanddave... in Ireland allowed me to partially absorb the first shock. A $37 return 45 minute train journey from Stansted Airport to Liv**pool Street station. I once paid $24 for a one hour train journey (single) in Ireland, so I only gasped and felt faint for a few seconds when I heard the price. What would newly-arrived Australians think, spoilt with their $10 all-day travel ...
