... York with 3 hours to get a sense of the city - thankfully, there was a luggage storage service close to the station, so I dropped the bags and hit the road.

... and was ushered into see Mr Prest by his carer. He's got all his marbles, wears a shirt and tie every day, just like when he worked in the Knaresborough bank all his career (apart from a stint in the war).

He told me about a lot of his memories, but I'll summarise mainly what he told me about the Waltons and the mill in Knaresborough. He remembers that the mill was called Walton's Mill for all of his working life ...
