... two huge snow-covered mountains directly in front. Alcazaba and Mulhacen. Their summits are both over 2000m above me. Mulhacen is the higher of the two (in fact it's the highest peak on the Spanish mainland), but it's Alcazaba which takes the eye - its rugged appearance makes it clear how it got its name, which means "fortress". ... of 40 lbs on my back made me very weak and made my head spin. We all crashed for about 5 hours, which was taken at the perfect time because a siesta (mid-day nap) is very common here, some businesses even close their doors for a few hours.

We are now in the basement of the hotel using internet. I wanted to put up some photos, but I have to get my camera...or sd do it. Maybe I can go up now while Juliet is plugged into my computer to charge her Iphone. I did and downloaded a bunch, of which I picked ten. I was disappointed with the shots of the Alhambra since it is so impressive. I wanted my photos to do it justice, but they don't. Oh, well.

With a large gas stove, plenty of counter space, industrial-sized sink, fridge, etc. Just around the corner from the entryway was a horseshoe-shaped seating area- very tiny, but it nicely accommodated all of us, snuggling.
