... Yangtze River to join our Victoria Cruise. We didn't arrive till 9.45pm so again it has been a long day. The porters were ready to assist with our baggage and attached 4 bags at a time to a pole across their shoulders to transfer our bags onto the very modern looking boat. ... even asked "If you disagree with a teacher, can you tell him"? Jennifer answered this one very well, as it is a topic encompassing freedom of speech, education and respect. We even gave a Canadiens hockey puck to one of the students, as there was an indication by one of our own delegates that the Senators may be a better team. Retaliation crossed all borders, right?

We then caught the small ferry across the river and went to Hubuxiang street for more dry noodles with sesame paste, and spicy potatoes, before returning back to the hotel via the ferry to get a taxti (very difficult!) to get to the station for our 5pm train back to Nanjing.

... noodles again. We then went to Mao's Summer Palace, Maozedong Donglu Jiuju on the shores of East Lake which is now being revamped into a conference centre, but we saw one of Mao's cars in a glass case. As we walked out we realised we were in the middle of a secure military zone! We then made our way back to the hotel and then got a taxi to Giano's, an Italian Restaurant in Wenchang. It was owned by a lovely Chinese lady about my age ...
