I like nature. I like sleeping in a tent where you can hear the noises of animals through the night and the wind in the trees. When it's early in the morning, it's nice to hear an owl hooting. Or two even. Ten is getting a bit much, and is enough to start to annoy. Then when 6am rolls around and the campsite manager thinks now would be an excellent time to use the leaf blower, it's time to get up. ... Unfortunately we checked with the hotel receptionist – that was a mistake; huge mistake. You see in Bellagio, our hotel receptionist had some very useful and actually correct information for us. However this lulled us into a false sense of security. We sadly left Rome in the early hours of the morning in order to arrive at our hotel in Venice in time for the planned dinner. On the way we were surprised by our tour guide and we went to a small town called Orvieto. This was actually one of the highlights of Italy. We walked up the Main Street and found the church and on the way saw a small ...

We were very happy today as we didn't have to rise early and travel, all we had to do was just wander down stairs for a beautiful continental breakfast to start the day off. After breakfast we again organised one our favourite things to do in a new city that is the Hop on Hop off bus, but this time it was the Hop on Hop off boat. The weather today was a perfect Venetian day, l think it hit a beautiful 23 degrees celsius and ...

... part of Venice has no direct paths but a maze of canal side walkways to find and negotiate. When frustrated or tiring a mango gelato goes a long way to re-energising or rebooting the system.
We then met up with Louisella for an evening guided tour. Hopped onto one of those great Venetian water taxis, aka very stylish motorboats and cruised the canals learning history, geography, art, medicine and philosophy from a local with a cute accent. ...
