... quite different to Chaing Mai. Smaller in size and population, but also not at all touristy. It has a feel of a real Thailand. The night market was great- the best I have been to in Thailand (I couldn't resist a few gift purchases!). The people are a lot less aggressive than at other markets and I didn't have to barter at all because they always offered a fare price. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere. Whilst I could have spent hours there (and we DiD -JM), JM doesn't enjoy markets ...

... like actual toilets!

We spent one night there and awoke the next day to do a short trek out of the jungle and down to a little town outside of Chaing Rai where we got to ride elephants!!! it was awesome! The whole group was ecstatic!

Well, it was a long and challenging journey through the jungle but I think for the most part everyone had a lot of fun!

We miss everyone back home and we'll try to keep you posted. ...

... bit rough...I'm not sure windy mountain roads and watching films go together!

We wandered around town, looked at a few places, but ended up going back to the first one we saw, Chiang Rai cafe. A very friendly guy who worked there cleaned the big front room for us while we had a look around town. We ended up in a very small restaurant across the road and had a 'western food' attack. A cheeseburger each, large fries AND a large pizza! Not to mention beer AND juice all for 480Baht ...
