This was my first experience ' training it' by day in Europe and boy had I been missing out. 1st class tickets are worth the extra cash and then some. The eurail pass gets you around (despite all the rail companies insisting you need a reservation). The train went direct from Berlin to Munich in 6 hours, which is impressive due to the next small leg out to Fussen taking 2 but the slower train ride was well worth it. From there we headed to an overnight stop in Lechbruck a few miles North..

... after only one hundred and fifty days of living in it, and after that it was given to the German people as a museum. The first castle wasn't as spectacular from the outside but was amazing on the inside, the most elaborate ornate decorations and beautiful pieces of furniture. We made our way outside thinking we had heaps of time until the next tour, but what we didn't realise was that we had to line up for the bus for ...

... a much bigger castle with a huge central tower, but sadly Ludwig died before he could fully realise his dream. On the day we visited with our hosts, Paul and Nicky, we could not get a ticket as the place was rammed solid with tourists. Up to 6000 visitors every day try come to this place and we were just unlucky. However, we did still take a carriage ride up to the castle and walk around the external parts. we also walked to the creaky old bridge that crosses ...
