      Ruby's Hotel, worth the savings

This is a charming budget, no frills hotel with great public balconies on both the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. The cheapest room, $20 is only different from the $40 room because it includes a shower. The $20 room is well worth the savings.

This place has been one of our favourites this trip. Great location on the beach, reasonable sized room and great chill-out areas to meet people and relax. All this for US$25 a night, no aircon but can't go wrong for the price.

      Beautiful Belize!

We left Cancun on Tuesday down through the Yucatan peninsula on our 5 hour bus trip to the Belize border. It poured almost the entire trip. You know that song, "I'm in a tropical depression?" (Mike keeps singing it) That's what we're in I guess. Most locals say that it is just September's weather. When we arrived in Chetumal, we met a nice couple ( …

From one beautiful place to another

Today was mostly a traveling day so I will not really be writing much unless you are interested in how the local buses work, in which case, I will just answer any questions you have. Now short on time, we made the decision to head back to the coast and check out another island we heard good things about. Just past the island of Caye Caulker, where …

      Hanging around San Pedro

Relaxing? Again? I guess that is what you could say we did in San Pedro today. Similar to Caye Caulker, the locals all drive golf carts. The big difference is that due to the size of the island, there are golf carts everywhere. There were so many we witnessed golf cart traffic jams and we were nearly run down several times. What do you do when …

The most amazing snorkelling ever in Caye Caulker!

A travel blog entry by natandcraig

... So Craigy and I joined a group of 8 other divers, were briefed, kitted out and then headed off to the Blue Hole.

I must admit that I was a bit disappointed with the Blue Hole compared to our amazing snorkelling experience yesterday. It was definitely the scariest dive that I have done as it was such a rapid descent and the waters were dark. It was the first time that I experienced a bit of vertigo as I couldn't see the top or the bottom of the ...
