... br> Onwards and upwards and its getting colder by the mile. Snow is now all around and many parts of the road have packed ice along it so I need to take great care getting up this pass.

Every inch of the way I watch the satnav counting down the kilometres but they just never seem to be getting any less.

After a long hard slog I finally arrive at the hotel I plan to stay in right at the top of the pass and right under the Dolomites.

      I stayed here last ...

... scenery, paid the €24 and went to the top car park, the little Peugeot nearly blew a valve. Walked around up top, but being on slippery ice next to steep slopes is not my idea of fun, we looked around and went into the lovely town of Misurina and had lunch. Back to our Hotel to plan the next part of the journey. Been pretty lucky with the weather and roads as we don't have snow chains at all. Another great day on our ...

... br> parallel to the main motorway (which appeared to be elevated on concrete piers
most of its route). The motorway was busy and even the local road was busy, Not

Stopped at Camping Corones. Luxurious site, with heated
sanitary facilities and a heated outdoor pool, but somehow we did not like it.
Full of Germans and very “ordered” parking.

... So - today was our first day in the Dolomites. We had a vision of what we wanted to do - but how to make that all happen was a question mark. We had an early breakfast so as to get an early start before the rain came in . . People around us thought we were out of our minds to have breakfast so early . . . "Aren't you on holiday?!" Anyway, food was wonderful. Fresh eggs, homemade yogurt with fresh fruit, fruit ...

Drove the motorhome into town, parked and took a bus from
the bus station to Passo Falzarego (2110m). From there, we took the cable car
up Lagazuoi (2750m). The views were incredible. From the top station/refugio,
we walked higher, up to the top of Lagazuoi. This whole area was the Austrian
and Italian front line in WW1 and ...
