... climbed out of the valley in the direction of Vila Nova de Paiva across a landscape not unlike Dartmoor, but perhaps with more trees and shrubbery, littered with huge rounded boulders. On Thursday morning we were on the road northwards shortly after 8.30am - earlier than planned. Due to the steep driveway out of the Camping Pelinos 77, we had taken Remy up on his offer of a tow out but he had overlooked that he had a hospital appointment later in the day, and was knocking on the door at 7.30am to apologise, so it would need to be sooner rather than later. ... the plaza below. A few slow walkers asked us if they could climb with us. They seem to have managed the steps better than we did.

A cafe near the fountain in the plaza provided us with an opportunity for beer and port. Several fellow travelers were all excited that the square had the cleanest best w/c so far in our adventure.
