... Half an hour later we were on the bus and on our way along the winding mountainous roads through dusty villages each seemingly with one bus stop allocated per house.
Lamego is a famous (though not famous enough for us to notice it prior to our little mishap) pilgrims destination courtesy of the beautiful Our Lady of Remedies Church (Nossa Senhora dos Remédios) which sits atop a (very) long zig-zaggy staircase decorated ...
... hours in which my host in Porto, José Martins, and I struggled to meet each other. I would have a number of such instances as Satan was really attempting to destroy the success of this trip, but God always intervened. I observed the Sabbath on April 4 in the home of José Martins, who is a long-standing member, and his family, namely his wife, Rosa ...
Porto, Northern Portugal, Portugal jorgedecampos... over the world. Rennie and Dan are driving all over Europe in their campervan and working doing professional fire shows and Rennie is selling cute, coloured, leather pixie shoes she brings from India for market gatherings, not a bad lifestyle. Dan the pixie is a tree doctor and was heading back home with his very tall friend Lurch who had very large feet, he offered us a ride to England. We helped Dan buy a beautiful woolly waistcoat from the flea market set up near main ...

Carregal do Sal, Portugal tiagosgd... drinking our own Port. The train is used by tourists, but is still mostly locally used. Once in Villa Real, we found a room on a nice cobble-stoned pedestrian street above a pastry shop. There is no shortage of those and it seems there´s a pastry shop every other block. Villa Real is home to Mateus wine. I hadn´t heard of it, but Deanne´s family used to have it at ...
Villa Real, Portugal hippleramazingly beautiful area with a river running thru green hills, dotted with small portugese white washed villages and vineyards which are dug into the siderd of teh hills. the rain didn't stop us from doing a couple of winery tours and climbing up 600 odd steps to see a beautiful church.... although we did find ourselves inside bars and bakeries samling portugals finest ports and pastries .... and the chinese restaurant of course (habits die hard).
Lamego, Portugal salkelely... was in Quinta do Vallado, Miguel who is a gourmet, love the wines made there. As we got into the winery we discover that they do not have a tourist program. But we were very lucky, because one of the owners were there, and he was very polite to allow us making a quickly visit to their wine "factory", with him explaining the process. And in the end he gave us 4 bottle of his wines. Next stop: Porto
Douro, Portugal alhadeff... laneway and into a hopping bar...where we met Marcelo and Eduardo..two cool dudes who later took us to a groovy dance club where we walked in and the first people we saw were all the dudes that we had sat next to at dinner!! It was such a coincidence and such a fun night...by the end of it the birds were tweeting in the sunrise and we were best friends with everyone in the club. Tuesday was action packed even though it took us a couple of hours to ...
Coimbra, Portugal natandy... short strawberry hair and a short-haired beard. He's one year away from being put in charge of his parents' huge pig farm back home in Germany. (It's the farm hat's huge; the pigs are normal.) In his hobby time, Clem owns and visits his property in the rural hillside of Portugal. He proceeded to tell the story of when his brother came to visit him in Portugal. It was the first time Clem's brother took acid. Lying beside a waterfall, this German pig ...
