... Lamego and a 1700s church that had a staircase of 685 steps reaching it. The stairs were broken up into segments separated by landings with statues and fountains. No, we did not walk up them, but we did walk down them to the center of town after visiting the church via bus. The church is also somewhat infamous in that there is a statue of the virgin mother was a bare breast, nursing the baby Jesus (the only one in the world?).
