At the moment, we are visiting family around Skoudas. I am very touched by how excited they are to meet us and welcome us to their homes. It is good to see that the lives of all the families have improved significantly since our last visit, but I did not realise how bad Lithuania was hit during the GFC. With the assistance of European Union money, things are ...

There were guides in each of the areas, as well as people demonstrating weaving linen tablecloths and making wood pieces ...

The only two acts that I actually knew were Naughty Boy (lala, lalalalalalalalala) who didn't bother to show up, and Pet Shop Boys, who I knew back in the eighties. So besides being our driver, Renāte also had to act as our personal guide to Latvian pop music. Which turned out to be harder than you might think...

... stopped to pull on our warm jumpers and jackets for the walk to the hostel. The wind was biting! The hostel was not far from the bus station, maybe 25 minutes walk, but we broke this up with a stop at the tourist information office. Here the lady had super English and could give us a map and lots of information about what to see. She could also sell us bus tickets to get to the Karosta region a little out of the town, and where the old military prison is which we ...
