Amelia and I pulled into Chicago to be greeted by bumper to bumper traffic. As you can see in the picture below, Amelia is looking a bit panicked, wondering just how long this traffic will keep us from arriving at our cousins home in the heart of downtown Chicago. After over 7 hours in the car we were ready to stretch our legs (well in her case, roots) and just possibly use the rest stop, okay absolutely needed to use it.

... what a travel blog is about. We hopped on the train at Penn Station in New York about 3:45pm and all the questions about how comfortable our journey was going to be was answered quite quickly. The seats were lovely and comfortable with plenty of leg room and space for you to sleep or generally live for the long period of time you were going to be on the train for. The seats had leg rests foot rest and reclined quite far back so we knew it was going to be ok. ...
... II - on route to England The Chicago airport is massive, just like Jim (my boss) said! I miss him and my lab mates already. Really glad I had six hours to kill in Chicago; it was fun to literally wander around the airport until it was time to catch my flight. I visited probably every boutique on the look out for a cheap bag to put my now carry on items in - the 'Sobeys bag' they were in was starting to rip lol. The happiest moment of my trip so far? ... pretty quick, in 6 mins 52 seconds. After everyone cheered and we hurried out the crowd, we didn't have time to watch his second walk. We needed to find a taxi but there were none free because a lot of people had also left after the first walk. Then a white limo pulled up. We laughed but were pretty desperate and running late for this "surprise" so asked how much. It was about double what we would have paid for a normal taxi but we had no idea if ...
... hotel owners have asked for it to be changed but it's a no go. We walk our block and jump on the train, if only we had known yesterday, but then I wouldn't have got to see all the lovely houses so there is definitely a positive of getting off too early :) In Chicago we hop off the train and head towards Navy Pier, we walk along the river and it's just stunning, this city is so beautiful! It is relaxed in the city too, there a lot of people out walking, bike ...
