Reigate, England, United Kingdom teamjaliceTwo days left - still can't really believe we're going. Excited and also a bit nervous - how will we get from place to place especially around Cambodia and China?

Working our way through our final to-do list and just hoping not to have any last minute panics!!

Suppose it won't sink in until we're on the plane:)

Viv xx
Bexhill, England, United Kingdom viv_markCamping in Barnes Green was good fun. We set out for the night to test the new tent, awning and cooking gear. It was very cold and we eneded up caught in a thunder storm, but I'm glad to report the tent was suberb. It was dry inside and our sleeping bags also did the job. We were nice and snug inside and we had a big fry up for breakfast, so all in all a success!

We got our carnet yesterday, so we're pretty much ready to go! Roll on December 24th!
Horsham, England, United Kingdom bruceandpetraWell, what can we say! What a send off from the villagefolk at Lindfield. It was coincidentally Guy Fawkes night which is also a pretty big deal in England.
A grand parade of burning torches and witches led up to a bonfire and fireworks extrordinaire.
To top it off, a display of Morris dancing by the local chaps outside the White Lion. Wow, the locals really love us. Tomorrow we depart for Queensland.
Haywards Heath, England, United Kingdom corny15... the bottom of the high street it began to dawn on me just how inescapably and unashamedly anti-Catholic the whole event is. I obviously had an idea of what to expect before arriving, but it’s only when you see it up close and personal that the mind-boggling political incorrectness begins to hit home. Lewes bonfire night is a throw back; an anarchic anachronism. The whole country celebrates November 5th, but no other town can claim to be as bound to its roots as Lewes.

Huge ...
Lewes, England, United Kingdom willjack... hundred meters into the English Channel. It is an impressive structure, covered in decorated buildings filled with carnival games, sideshows and slot machines, and with a fun park and rollercoasters at the very end. I went out onto the Pier for a look on the day I arrived and some little ******* picked my pocket. Lucky for me it was found by secrity about ten minutes later minus about £30 but still containing my credit card and ID. The other ...
Brighton, England, United Kingdom jimborussell... s numbers cut right to my heart, and Jean Valjean's soft falsetto in 'Bring Him Home' was one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. His pitch was spot on and unshakenly powerful despite the high octave. Every note was hit with confidence and clarity; he had the audience in the palm of his hand the whole time, myself included. The finale was strong and fulfilling and it made me want to get right up on stage with them and sing my heart out. Someday, maybe I'll ...
Brighton, United Kingdom kyle.ackerman... it was full, so I checked out the Grapevine and it wasn't so I checked in there. On a Wednesday I woke in fright (in the Grapevine) as there was this man on the opposite bed staring at me...too early for the likes of me so I went out and got ...
Brighton, United Kingdom verlander... it to the Victoria station that morning. Now my concern was that I was headed back to a point from which I would have to take the same tube line that had been so fouled up in the morning, and I had no reason to believe it would be any better now, given that I had just had to vacate another broken train. She and her husband and I struck up a conversation, which morphed from the immediate situation to how I could get back to advice about sites I should see in London to my observations ...
Brighton, United Kingdom crashdot... I have to cook my own meals here - for the first time I am making my own dinners and lunches and cereal for breakfast ( mostly for the first few weeks my meals consisted of just cereal - but now im branching out to making real food) . In my house I have a friend who goes to Holy Cross with me. Her name is Colleen, and its really great that she is living off-campus too - we have become really good friends and have dinner together a lot and just joke around about ...
