... free and a light bulb went on in my head. Oh ok I smiled. This made the 15 minutes of looking for a spot understandable now.
Menton like all of the other towns of its size that we have visited has a Merry Go Round. They are very ornately decorated. I find them rather charming. Anyway we walked past the Merry Go Round to the beach. The beauty of the Sea, the striking architecture if the buildings and the colorful umbrellas made ...

      Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo

... this minute spec of a country has been on my list for a while but I always knew that staying in Monaco itself would be out of the question purely from a financial standpoint. France alone is proving to be far from a cheap destination. Every train seems to cost more than what I would normally spend on a night's accommodation. Hostels themselves are no better and nor are they plentiful. So I based myself in Nice, the theory being I could get into Monaco and see everything ...

... little town of Villefrance-sur-mer. They had a really cool Citadel with it's own moat and drawbridge. They repurposed this huge fortress into their City Hall and a couple of small museums. They also had a beautiful garden. The town was quaint with lots of secret streets. The Riviera seems to be a mix of France and Italy. This town definitely had that Italian ...

Yes, the title refers to a cocktail, not to what you might think. Monsieur et Madame may have these choices but mine is de l'eau, de l'eau, de l'eau! Very unfair. Anyway
it's good bye to Italy and very sad too - I've loved Italy and The Italians as much as they've loved me. We pack up and head for the French Riviera - Menton to be precise. Madame says " I've always wanted to visit Menton, ...

... ve seen so many times before on TV back home (red eyed at 3am on a Monday!)

Overall the town, along with the Rivera in general reeks of money. The whole harbour of Monaco is crammed with ridiculous super yachts. Makes you a bit sick really but I guess the rich posers here in their lame Ferrari's and are part of the spectacle.

Worth the visit - won't be coming here for a holiday any time soon though (as if we could afford it anyway!)
