Left this morning Genora where Christopher Columbus was born, stopping in Pisa...Amazing Leaning Tower...lots of pics. Left Italy Travelling thru over 170 Tunnels thr the mountains. We're going to Monte Carlo tomorrow night for dinner...passed it today with all the yatchs in the Harbour

... best non-Alpine scenery of the entire trip, with the added bonus of almost no pedaling.
Crossing into Italy, the first thing I saw was what looked like the abandoned town of Fanghetto on a small hilltop. Then along the highway was a local farmer's fruit truck. Carole followed this route on her own later on and stopped at this truck to purchase some items. She shared the melon with us, and it was wonderful. Thanks ...
... when 'she' took us off a motorway of slowing traffic down into the stop/start traffic of Nice only to return us back to the motorway we'd just left! Eventually "Serena" got over 'her' fear of slow traffic and led us all the way to Menton where we could part right outside the doors of the little 2 star hotel we'd booked. (We might be in the area of the rich & wealthy but we're not living their lifestyle... just looking at it!)

... be closed tomorrow, plus no one works so museums, etc. are all closed as well, so we have to leave learly tomorrow lest we get locked in the city. Anyways, the ocean at night is so beautiful too, and the round moon reflected on the water in such an elegant way, it's simply gorgeous. There are also lots of restaurant tables lined up all along the patio-sidewalk right next to the beach, which I imagine must be an incredible place to have dinner.
... ate and how unlikely it is that you will find anything else before you drop with exhaustion looking for an alternative. Even so, the truffled risotto with seared scallops I had certainly was delicious.
