... us another hour to go 20km or so!) but we get there eventually.

It’s been a great few days with family. Downtime is really important on any trip, but particularly longer ones where it’s very easy to get caught up constantly 'doing things’. Stopping the clock can be a really good thing, as it gets you ready for the next part of the trip – which for us, after a couple more days in Bangkok, is a journey into neighbouring ...

I can live here. Seriously. Bangkok was so dirty, like LA, but just a couple hours away is this little gem. We then went for lunch to a restaurant located on the beach which was like a sports bar and we were guided through the menu. We ended up with chicken fried rice while John & Linda ordered something different so we got to try other things. It was nice to have a leisurely lunch and just to sit and relax.
After lunch we went to Linda'shome which is a single dwelling on the outskirts of Pattaya. This home ...

... unto a visit of one week. You see the Jontiem/Pattaya area is too nice to leave. I decided to stay away from the cold places remaining in my itinerary, such as Xian & Guilin, in favor of the warmer weather of Jontiem. The guys were great hosts and I got to sample the life of a retired “farang” in Pattaya. Quite interesting! A day at the beach here. Shopping the next! Run errands. Eat out! A little sightseeing on my account. All very enjoyable!
