Who would have thought Tenerife would be the place to try on my 'travelling boots' once again; it is not a back packers place of discovery, adventure or contact with the indigenous population but it is away and somewhere I had not yet visited.

The four hour flight from Gatwick was wonderful, (mainly because I had spent too long grounded in the UK), regretfully the airport assistance was needed to transfer me from the check-in to the aircraft. ...

... as curious about us as we are of them because they would roll on their side and look me right in the eye! They were delightful! We found a couple of pods of them and followed them for quite some time. I must say that I loved every second of it. They are mesmerizing. And frankly it was very moving. We stopped in town at an 8 story department store called El Corte Ingles and made our way up the escalators to the top floor where we got a panoramic view of the city and port from the cafeteria. Another coffee and some fried sweet bread, like the ship doesn't feed us enough, and we began walking the city. ... went back and picked up our carry-on bags, before having a final look around the cabin to make sure we hadn’t left anything behind. Then it was off to the Coral Club to await our call to disembark around 11.00am.
