... they must have put on a show and been having a great day when the BBC came. As he was probably one of the least friendly Indians I have met to date. He basically threw down dishes for what was meant to be one of our privileged lunches on the trip and watched us eat with a look in his eye that said we were not welcome. Liam: We continued our trend of hunting down hotels with no prior booking and managed to negotiate a great price at Varkala Villas at the southern end of the cliffs. Varkala town itself is located further inland but the main touristy areas congregate along a 5km stretch along the cliff edges above an awesome white sand beach. ... taxi driver said not to as they were too expensive (at 200 rupees, just over 2 quid) so the bartering started, we got it down to 150 rupees,(well the driver did, I would have paid the 200 quite happily) so I was now the owner of 5 Kg of mussels, I hope the hostel would cook these up for us
