... and the entire residence as a whole has two study rooms, a communal kitchen/common room in the basement, a laundry room, and some offices where the staff work. My roommate's name is Edwina: she's from NYC, NY, goes to BU, and is focusing on IR, like me.

The rest of the day was filled with settling in, unpacking, confirming our classes, getting a neighborhood tour, purchasing a "transports publics genevois" pass (which ...

So here we are in Avoriaz, the Christmas - New Year rush / panic / chaos has passed and we are finding our feet, after 4 weeks of really hard slog. A travel blog entry by genevieveswan on Jul 26, 2013

After treatment, lunch and a siesta, we headed up to the exquisitely beautiful village of St Nicholas de Veroce. There was a guided tour of the lovely, baroque Church by a very enthusiastic and informative guide. It was in French, but Celine provided an excellent translation which an English couple were also very glad to share. The church has been lovingly and beautifully restored by the villagers who also keep ...

... you are not in the middle of an unusually hot summer. And guess what?

Well, the evening outdoor temps are decent so you can open your windows to cool down. Do you know what the French word for "window screen" is? Don't bother looking it up, there isn't one. And guess what else? Open windows with flowers hanging right outside attract birds. See pic.

More tour watching tomorrow. Will be good to get another look.
