Upon entering The Royal Plantation Resort there was an overall feeling of "ROYALTY" shall I say. Greeted by the staff by name is something of a standard here. The Royal Plantation staff certainly go out of their way to accommodate each and every guests needs. This resort, originally built in the 1950's in the classic Caribbean style, it was given an extensive make-over in 2005. Caribbean's most exclusive boutique resort on The Ocho Rios Riviera, offering 74 luxurious suites, all with stunning...

... the rock climbing on Saturday, if not sooner.

Supper was in the dining room again and was a surf and turf theme. Another amazing meal. Our waiter, Ernesto, is just awesome and really entertaining. I think he gets a real kick out of the kids and likes to show them tricks with flicking spoons into glasses and telling them jokes. Our assistant waitress is really nice too. She just started her first day on this cruise, so it took her a couple days to really get into the swing ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica adellegThe ship docks at Ochos Rios in Jamaica so we decided to just do a little shopping onshore .Jamaica is a fairly poor country so competition is very strong for any sort of business that they can get. After you leave the ship it's a kilometre walk down to a few shopping centres. About 15 different people asked if we wanted a taxi and then once in the stores the store ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica youngsinusa2009Ocho is an interesting city, divided by a straight line, on one side (from the center to the port), relatively safe area day and night, upscale boutique, restaurants and on the other side, the chaos and not so safe area. There are a few hundreds meters of beachfront.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica gratienWe arrived at Ocho Rios, Jamaica on Tuesday after two days at sea. The last two days at sea had been filled with good times and it had been smooth sailing. We looked out from our balcony and thought how beautiful the waters and port were. The weather was sunny with some clouds and the day would be pleasantly warm. We had planned a shore excursion of going on a zip-line through the ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica thetraveldog... is wonderfully entertaining, and the food is very good.

Our favorite by far, has to be El Capitano. Manager & Italian chef, Federico Discalzi has has created a menu that is extraordinary. Probably the best Italian Restaurant in the entire Sandals Chain. You can easily make a meal form the antipasta bar alone. Be sure to try the stuffed Calamari if you enjoy seafood.

The bars and bar staff are all excellent as ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica caribbean_fever... walking distances with heavy loads we found our Silver Seas hotel (the oldest hotel in Ocho Rios). It was alot cheaper than Kingston, but still $25 a night. Before we could barely get in our door, we met a bloke which was partying tonight a few doors down from us by himself. We did the honourable Aussie thing to do and offered him company to drink with - us! He was partying a bit hard for us though with blow. So myself and matty said no, and stuck to the booze ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica clintonb... best conditions were in Ironwood, but since that was the only place around with good conditions, people were there from all over. This is a good thing if you like to share the trails with lots of people, since it is not our type of fun, we traveled elsewhere and ended up in Calumet and finally on to Minocqua. The snow cover was surprisingly minimal in Calumet and Minocqua for the end of December, but we did the best we could, and had fun trying ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica jennipost... perspective and I wondered how my parents would find it. From the airport in Montego Bay, we traveled to Negril in a monstrous bus that rose above the other traffic and swallowed the narrow highway. My mom was sitting by the window and she let out a few yelps when it seemed we would hit another car or scrape along the rock wall as we careened down the road. In my volunteer life, I often see these buses traveling down Main St. in Ocho Rios carrying "whitees" to and from ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica jennipostThis was a horrible nasty little place I hope to never see again. When you walk down the street, it is filthy and taxi drivers nag at you and then throw insults when you refuse to take a taxi. I Came. I Saw. I LEFT! One almost saving feature of this hideous place was swimming in the water, but even that turned south when I felt what I believe to be a sewer pipe under my feet.
