Bob's Recap

A travel blog entry by megbobtravels on Jul 09, 2015

Just a few of my (Bob's) notes about some themes and overall thoughts about this trip.

The Locals

The person who showed us our Airbnb in Venice, Orial, asked me about what I thought about the people in my first visit to Italy, and to Europe. I tried to explain it to him, but I had a hard time doing it then, and I'm kind of having a hard time writing it too. I also have to disclaim/qualify that I fully understand that I have had a small glimpse of ...

Meg's Reflections about Italia

A travel blog entry by megbobtravels on Jul 09, 2015

... My aim is to find it.
What I DIDN'T love about Italy - that I missed from America:
Eggs. I missed eggs for breakfast so much. I cannot subsist on a little pastry or toast with jam or even a piece of cheese or ham. I need my morning eggs.

I'd like to experience getting lost and uncovering adorable places with Bob. I hope we find places off the beaten path that I didn't star in advance. I hope we ...

I did a trial run this weekend for packing and it turns out these hiking bags are not very big. I know what you're thinking: "Of course, Meg. That's why everyone looked at you like you were crazy when you said you were only packing one hiking backpack."

Okay, so my spatial reasoning leaves much to be desired. BUT - I'm glad I did a trial run, because I realized a few things that were entirely unnecessary.

The packing challenge

Over the weekend we started the challenging job of packing for our 3 week vacation in multiple climates. Add to that the airline restrictions and it becomes a major puzzle. To play it safe we are taking 3 checked bags. Never done that before. Fortunately the airline allows us each 2 bags so we are good to go.

We're just about done however and we are ready (and excited) to go. Tomorrow ...
