Maehaad Beach Ko Phangan, Thailand, 84280
We arrived here, having paid too much for our resort, thinking it possibly didn't exist and we were conned. So when we arrived at our luxury apartment with a view that you couldn't stop staring at we were euphoric.
The location was just beautiful with great weather to accompany. Met some great people that we played cards with. We LOVE cards.
At night, there was a huge beach party where we could watch people nearly kill themselves by throwing large sticks of fire around their body. We ...
I kept having this dream that we missed our stop and ended up at the end of the line, somewhere in the far south of Thailand, and get trapped there by insurgents, and my mom got all worried about us, because she already worried about us before we left...then I'd wake up, and check the alarm clock. Of course, it was still dark outside, and only an hour had passed. This happened several times throughout the night, until Mario climbed down into my bunk at 5 am and told me to wake up. It was col...
Mae Haad, Koh Phangan, Thailand skyisbluI was so glad that, after 2 meals in a row that were too spicy for my taste buds, I got to eat a tasty, tasty tomato omelet with cheese on toast. I folded it up, made a sandwich and gobbled up the entire thing. To add to my enjoyment, Mario ordered us a pot of Thai tea, which is really orange in color, but delicious with milk and sugar. Also, he took a walk to a shop up the road and brought me orange juice on the balcony of our bungalow, so I was in high spirits this morning! We took a walk ...
Mae Haad, Koh Phangan, Thailand skyisbluA very lazy day indeed. I heard the Aussies noisily making their way in around 7 am. I got up quietly, bought some juice and Aloe Vera gel at the local shop, and relaxed in the hammock, nursing my sunburn, until Mario rolled out of bed. We had a delicious brunch while writing postcards for home, but I didn't get enough postage, so we'll take care of sending them tomorrow. The Thai tea is so good, I really have to remember to ask about it when we get to Chiang Mai. I wish the bananas we got a...
Mae Haad, Koh Phangan, Thailand skyisbluWe've decided that the island Koh Phangan has become too crowded and tourist-oriented. We rented a motorbike to tour outside the realm of the Royal Orchid Resort. I marked all the points of interest on a map of the island and , camera in tow, away we went - slowly. There were only standard bikes left when we rented ours, so it took a little practice and some trial and error before Mario got comfortable driving, and I got comfortable enough to not hold for dear life, at the same time cutting ...
Mae Haad, Koh Phangan, Thailand skyisbluThe sky opens up and lets forth a deluge of water on the island this morning, raising the humidity level exponentially and putting a damper on everyone's plans. Not that we had any, but we had taken the sun being out for granted. Mario is getting itchy to move - he doesn't want to sit around the bungalow again. He wants to wander the island on his scooter again. I don't really want to go, as I'm just glad we made it back in one piece yesterday. It's a little unnerving when everyone returns f...
Mae Haad, Koh Phangan, Thailand skyisblu... through Sairee beach with bars, diving shops, stores, massage shops, restaurants and, of course, 7-Eleven.

On the second day Joe and Kevin took a "discover diving" scuba lesson which was theory class from 10am to noon, then lunch, then a couple dives, the second one going to 12M. I was going to go but wasn't allowed because I had used my albuterol that day. Apparently inhaler + scuba don't mix because of expanding air bubbles that can ...
Ko Tao, Thailand vanessaau... difficult at points, and Neil particularly was a bit apprehensive. However he carried on and did amazingly, managing to get down to 18 meters in the waters off Ko Tao. The day before yesterday we had our first two training dives, taking us down to 12 meters, and we saw some incredible fish. And then today, getting up at 6am, we had our second two, taking us down to 18 meters. Being a bit more use to it today, we really enjoyed it ...
Ko Tao, Thailand nefiOh Thailand... how we love you....

Spent a few great days in Bangkok. Lots of ppl that we have talked to told us to get out of the big city as soon as possible but we didn't mind it at all. Its definately hot, humid and muggy but interesting thats for sure. We checked out the grand palace which was spectacular. The whole grounds are immaculate with so much detail in the buildings. Millions of tiny pieces of tile and gold leaf covering every inch of the ...
Koh Tao, Thailand sarahandwillAfter our long journey, we arrived in Kho Tao and that afternoon we started our Open Water Diving course, which would take four days in total. We were fortunate to have a small group of four on our course. By day 3 we were in the ocean! We went around 12 metres deep and got to see different varieties of fish and coral. We were fortunate enough to see a baby 'Indian Walkman' - a fish that resides on the bottom of the ocean, happily minding ...
