Flying the Friendly Skies Belize Style

For all my nonairline friends out there, this one may be a little boring but if you have flown lately, I think you will be able to relate to how flying could and should be less stressful in the States. Flying within Belize was never on my radar and I accidentally stumbled upon. As I had originally planned on taking the bus between points, sure I missed out on some culture and scenery but the plane got me around quickly and ...

... in the front of the hotel and one of the cab drivers volunteered to drive us over to a much cheaper hotel up the street.   This one was really more af the hourly type motel - and we were offered other services byu local businesswomen - but we just wanted a good nights sleep.... We went out for a walk in town - we went to dinner at a famous local restaurant called Nery's - we had conch soup and Sylvain had a ...

Belize, Naturally

... along the river on the way to exploring a sacred Mayan cave. It was a cave and cavern that had us swimming upstream in the dark with just little miner lights on our helmets to light the way. But thats a story for another blog. Lots to see in the wild here and so much to learn about the medicinal plants, the hundreds of birds and more sea life than a Cousteau special. Beautiful place. At least the natural places.

It's a Vibe Thing

... competition you would have in that type of business? First Altun Ha and then we can maybe check out the snakes, or not. After a few very enjoyable hours wandering the grounds at Altun Ha we were heading back from whence we came. I was not really thinking much about the snake guy as we passed slowly by his place until we saw him waving and smiling with the Anteater on his arm. Braking and parking, Paula starts to make the same ...

Paradise...

... there wasn´t much wildlife, and I have to say..the coral was pretty much brown, not as beautiful as Egypt! But we did see two nurse sharks, although was about to ascend so didn´t wanna go down again to get close for a brill photo (we hired an underwater camera woot) though I´m wishing I had afterwards, ah well! Second dive we saw a few more fish and what not, and a couple of rays swam past, woo! But sadly no turtles, which is what the area is famous ...

Day 9 - by Rachel

... see them, as it was the last day we spent in the village. So we let them crawl all over our laps as we did devotions in the church. It was my day and I talked on Matthew, and after we were done we split into two groups to do raking and cleaning up lawns. I was in Kate's group, and we headed down the roadside to clean up garbage, dead palm leaves, decaying wood, and rotting coconuts and pile them in heaps for incineration. Might I add that expired coconut milk smells ...

Bette said "well lets pray about it." Casey shouted, "I will," as he started grabbing hands. Five to ten minutes after Casey prayed, the electricity came back on all over the country. Praise the Lord! We are ...

Belize Zoo

... quite a lot of the animals nowadays, good because most of the species are endangered animals. The zoo is very well laid out and easy to see, we spent about 3 hour's altogether. Now back at the vehicle for the night. 20th.- This morning we were going to leave but I have hurt my back whilst helping Mike with some jobs. Do not know how long we will stay as it is quite a bad strain.

Somebody please tell them Bob Marley is dead

As much as we hated to leave, it was time for us to move on. We had met some great people while on Caye Caulker and hoped we would be able to return someday. Our guide came to get us and carted our bags to the boat and we headed back to Belize City. We paid him with some smoked salmon we had brought from home. We, of course, said goodbye to Rasta Man. I don't ...
