ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.
Monaco, Monaco tilman... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city IŽd love to visit once a year minimum.....
Nice, Provence, France tilmanIt is Sunday and very wet and miserable here in Antibes. Quite a change from the glorious day we had yesterday. Ideal for computer work in fact... (Except that then things didn't pan out as planned and it is now Monday)
It wasn't my intention to have an entry before my departure but the response to my initial circular has been so overwhelming that I feel it merited an ...
... peculator brewing, and more often than not scrambled eggs. Lunch is usually a baguette stuffed with loads of fresh salad, stinky cheese (the smellier the better!!) and Parma ham. Our dinner staples are Spaghetti Bolognaise, Pork Fajitas, Hamburgers with the LOT, Cous Cous ala Gill with chicken and of course no meal starts without the obligatory Ham cheese and olive tapas and a bottle of wine. The other stuff We need to make up our bed every evening as it is made out of ...
Les Arcs sur Argens, Provence, France darrenhough74... the Contiki group in a local restaurant, followed by some drinking games in a pub! All good fun really. As it was getting quite late (and I need my beauty sleep) I went to bed, whilst Mark took a trip to another casino. He didn't get in until about 3.30am all drunk! He swears he got lost on the way home for an hour but I reckon he was just enjoying himself too much to sleep. He was a bit rough on the journey the following day!
Nice, Provence, France markandnoma2009... and just a main for Dee. This way, we could share the entree and dessert, without breaking the bank. For our entree we chose salad nicoise, as we figured when in Rome.... it was very nice (no pun intended) and Dee is already pumped to make it back home.
Thus concluded our stay on the French Riviera, a place we have definitely earmarked as somewhere to come back to, however we'll make sure its summer next time (and Dee will get a tan before arriving, so as not to offend the locals). Next stop, Barcelona.
... of the cars and the casino.
Wisked via bus to the Palais so that we would not miss the changing of the guard. Got there in time, saw a horse drwn cart with brush form the gardens and older Frenchman riding the carriage;
kIDS in front and local army guy let them go in front of chains to watch the impressive pagentry. Guards in their summer white and all very decorated. Kids loved it, Parker in heaven and kept ...
... I know it was your favorite, but we just couldn't work it out). Maybe some other time... Then... we got to Nice! We stayed in 2 different hostels... the 1st was alright besides the hole in the ceiling of our shower that was dripping cold, dirty water from above while Chrissy hurried through her shower... gross! The next place was a nicer, a more homely hostel that was right around the corner from the beach. Our first night we just took a stroll around town ...
Nice, Provence, France tammiandchrissy... Nice is crowded and very conjested as it is) I needed to follow the directions and call them back once I got to the pick up "rendez-vous" point. So I found my bus and got off at the destination. Once I got there I immediately called the front desk of Ville Saint Exupery and told them that I was ready for them to come and get me and they tell me that they're on their way. So I wait, for a little while, and then a little while more...I don't remember ...
Nice, France swisherd... quite surprised when the deal was all done by the end of January. The new owner wanted us to stay on, which some of us agreed to do. Leske & Bob took off, while Paige & Nina signed up. We initially rented flats near the yacht and I had a place all to myself. It wasn't the best thing for me, as I became a bit of a hermit in the long evenings. We moved to a flat in Jean-les-Pins, near Antibes, which was on the top floor & even had a (small) view of ...
