Royal Inn Casper

We hit the road with no set agenda. Our destination was Yellowstone but we knew it was a really long drive. When planning the trip we hadn't been able to find a suitable stopover point so we were playing it by ear. It was quite a nice feeling just to be driving and see where we turned up.

... Cholera, which killed many of the one in ten pioneers who died traveling the trail. We were not the only ones who found Alva's inscription in the cliff. As you can see in the photo, his great-grandson and nephew who traveled the trail several years later found their Alva's inscription and added their own below his.

We then headed to Casper, WY to meet up with Morris our guide for our overnight wagon trail ...

Well we left my brothers after mowing his place (use resource he said) left around 1pm then headed north for 500 miles....had no close calls other then dad taking a swing at me for making fun of his hair loss (attitude) then once we got into Wyoming the scenery was AWSOME! plus the Antelope (Pronghorn) was real nice..we pulled into Casper around 9:30pm central time...eat a bite and now we go to beddie by for a crack of dawn heading to Yellowstone hoping to see lots of wildlife. Later

... bizons laying by the road, deer everywhere, 2 huge lakes and far away views. This will ultimately bring you to Teton National Park, one that I was really looking forward to visit. (Traveler tip: If you will visit more than 3 national parks, you are better off buying the National Parks Pass, for $80. It is valid for 1 year and all entrance to Federal parks will be free, Yellowstone has a cover of $25 so you can see the savings if you visit more than 3 on a trip ...

... to the paying RV'er. In Wyoming it was about coal, cattle, even oil. Casper is not a bad little town. I'm taking a day off here to catch up, before heading to Yellowstone tomorrow. It's very conservative - there's a hot item in the paper where one Republican candidate for the House (their only seat) accused the other of being associated with the Sierra Club, which of course would be the kiss of death.

We left at 6am on July 17 from Casper Airport. A long day of flying via Denver, Toronto to London. We were on United and Air Canada flights. All the flights were fine, except Michelle's luggage did not arrive in London when we did. We arrived in London at 7am or so.

... song by one lady in the front. She was really cute, and you could tell she loved the show! Well, I must take a shower now. It will be my last chance before Thanksgiving Day back in Nashville. We are traveling through the night tomorrow so that we can get to the airport to make all our flights home. Hopefully, there won't be any delays or cancellations and I will get home on time!

... wyoming was not particularly memorable, a water fall and the black hills - but as these are mainly in south dakota. nevertheless there are a few nice pictures

... tunes. That made it a little lonely! Towards the end of the day, had a great ride into Salt Lake City from the east...great road, great scenery. Stayed with good friends Sean and Michelle and baby Taryn (though the latter two were out of town). Happy birthday, Michelle!

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Road trips are fun except for the fact that your in a car mostly all the time. Got to move into a motor home, Yes! Free walkin around, no more motion sickness, get to act silly to other car drivers. You know, good all makin silly faces at other cars. Good times, and oh ya I get to sleep, much much better.
