We rode out of Yass at 8 am after stopping for that morning caffeine fix at the favorite coffee shop. It was a very cold, minus 4 degree start, with a pea soup fog. What a robust start to the ride to Melbourne.

One day to go!! We are saying our goodbyes to our Canberra mates and doing a final pare down of our stuff. No more trips to the Salvation Army to buy back our stuff! Yes, that was one of the more memorable experiences along with both Ginette and I driving on the wrong side of the road on the same day! ... bought a new pretty dress for the big day. Petra was most put out that she didn't get any presents but she got plenty of cake ! The girls travel well in the car, they have a huge tub of books that they read, or we play "I Spy(colours)" which Petra is hopeless at because she keeps giving us the answers !! If things get desperate we watch a movie on the IPad and they don't seem to get tired of the Wiggles, Peppa Pig or Angelina Ballerina, no matter how many times we watch it ...

... great escape" when about 1100 Japanese prisoners attempted escape. We went out the the camp site itself, and I was so impressed by the way it has been setup (it is listed as a heritage site). Obviously, this is our first entry but I thought since we are almost exactly one month to the day from departure it would be a good time to start...We have decided to 'check out' of mainstream life and do an extended cruise aboard a catamaran. We are currently in the 'transition' phase from 'normalcy' to 'cruising'. I thought it might be fun to share our experience through this transition in this blog!
