Algeria seems untouched by the mass tourism which has overrun parts of Morocco, Tunisia and other countries around the Med. My main question remains as to whether the country is safe for Americans. I don't allow terrorism to deter me from my travels but any insight is appreciated.
Oran, Algeria mykey81... dissapointed that i haven't really found anything new to bring home or rapped because we have the best music going around at home! Every restaurant, milkbar, supermarket and newsagency sell pre sale tickets to clubs its almost as if it only survives because of the clubs. The island was full of British tourists so everywhere sold english breakfasts, there are heaps of English pubs and most people who live there speak English ...

Mediterreanean Sea, Spain and Canary Islands whereshegoes... of the population, who just came out in 2005 of extremely active and bloody terrorism, is still to be healed. I expect that tourism will be the first asset of this country in helping to bring developement to the populations. In any case, Algerians are always willing to discuss all matters and to keep themseves informed of the latest news... this said, I have to admit that it's not uncommon to come accross very hard-headed people!
