Well, we're into February and if there is a groundhog around here, I don’t think he saw his shadow. Except for 2 days of rain, we had a very pleasant January with temperatures between 12 and 22. February is starting off the same way. There were only a handful of days when Tim didn’t wear his shorts, which I’m sure he’ll be telling you when he returns home. I feel we’re acclimatizing to life in China because most things seem ordinary ...

Guilin is on the coast and has fertile soil, despite all the hills, so a lot of fishing and farming (fruits and rice) but in a very traditional style – hand hoes and water buffalo instead of oxen. The fishermen fish from bamboo ...

We awoke to a sunny blue sky on Christmas morning, as every day had been during our trip. We exchanged Christmas cards and I prepared a special breakfast – stuffed French Toast with fresh strawberries. Yummy! We didn’t know how quiet it would be on the streets and, although not normal traffic, people were on the move. We drove down to Kings Park, a jewel along the coast in downtown Perth. We joined hundreds ...
