We visited in the village for a while and struck up a conversation with a German tourist named George. 20 years ago he hiked the PCT and he knows Truckee very well as his former girlfriend lives there-and Rick knows her! George is on a 4500 mile bicycle ride that began in Hong Kong. We are amazed that he could cycle these roads!

It is not uncommon to stop in a restaurant and someone will actually pull their chair up to our table, weather they speak English or not. Rick pulls out the map and shows where we've been And where we're heading. Happened twice today already.

At one point in the road it was just flat clay as they had rolled it ready to put gravel on top. Now this is easy to bike along until they then spray it with water (no idea why) and it then is literally an ice skating rink. Luckily, we was going slow enough and managed to just about stop before ...

We arrived in Nakhom Phanom, Thailand on Saturday after a 2-hour trip over the "friendship bridge" and through immigration. Nervous, we immediately went to the government hospital. They had Mark pee in a cup and take an x-ray. The results came back with no infection, and no kidney stone. The doctor thought Mark should take a G6PD test, but the required lab techs wouldn't be in until Monday. If he tested positive it would mean that he had a ...
