Once we started, there was no escaping the bouncing bus ride to Tham Kong Lo which turned into a nine hour odyssey, that is if one includes the bus breaking down and and the commandeering of two different passenger trucks called jumbo tuktuks. Almost all of the ride was paved and generously potholed but we made it, literally to the end of the road – the very end.
The reason for the trip was so that we could travel 7 more kilometres, this time off road. ...

11 February 2015This morning we went back to the same place as there is not much other choice for breakfast. We directly rented here as well a motor bike for the two of us. The reason we are here is for the Kong Lo Caves. These are laying in the Phu Hin Bun NPA. It is a one hour (48 km) drive by motorbike from Ban Khoun Kham. So we decided both drive halfway so it is not boring for the one on the back. The drive is through ...

We got off the bus at a place call Vieng Kham and took a truck to the village of Ban Khoun Kham. This was ...

A travel blog entry by alandbeth on Jan 11, 2015

I fancied a jog so headed out into a dry cold morning, soon the heavens opened and I was chased by two big dogs. I thought they would have tried to take a bite but they just seemed to chase me along thankfully!
The rain continued for a bit,the guys drove us and we stopped to escape the heavy drain and ...

When Adam's alarm went off, I really did not want to get up. It had been a while since we had had a 7 o’clock start. On the way to the truck, I bought some empanada type savouries for breakfast.

The sun broke through the low clouds very quickly and soon it was beating down. Once we were beyond Vang Vieng, the mountains retreated to a distance. This morning, people ...
