We whiled the morning away doing more window shopping after breakfast. We were to catch the train to Tachikawa after lunch as Shigeki and Norzin were meeting us at the Granduo Shopping Centre at 3pm.

We decided to stick to Kawasaki and wandered around looking for more lens filters. UV filters are so hard to come by now. They only have "protection filters" i.e. multicoated glass ones. Anyway, we bought one more and exchanged another ...

... things around became brighter. So we decided as a group to descend until we were out of this miserable cloud and could see the beautiful sunrise. It didn't take long, about a fifteen minute hike down the loose ash and we could see one of the more beautiful sunrises I have ever experienced in my life. We were above the clouds, above the trees, above everything in Japan and like a ray or hope and warmth the sun broke through the clouds and everyone on the mountain ...

... hostel and cycled round two of the five lakes that surround Fuji. This totally made up for not seeing the mountain as the scenery around the lakes was breath taking!

I am going back to Fuji in the hopes of first seeing the mountain and secondly climbing it! So watch this space for ...
