Royal Court Hotel Mombasa

We are travelling down a bumpy, winding road. To our left and right dense green bush creates a tunnel for us to drive through. Bertha slowly crawls over the uneven surface towards our destination. We have heard plenty about Tiwi Beach, both positive and not, and are now excitedly waiting for our first glimpse of this beach campsite.

On Wednesday we headed out to Bombolulu Market on the outskirts of the town. It’s actually a workshop that employs disabled people to make arts and crafts for the tourist trade and mobility aids for disabled people in the coast province. ... we worked at a campaigners camp for YL in Nairobi.  It was cool to see that YL in Africa is just like YL in the states.

Now I'm in Mombasa for a few days.  We are meeting daily with the YL leaders here, painting and fellowshipping with them.  Our team is enjoying the ocean when we aren't working.

... of the many thousands of tourists who visit Kenya each year looking for an adventure on Safari and then maybe a week at one of the few "luxurious!" hotel complexes and you stay clear of Mombasa, Nairobi and certainly don't stray into the villages; then I think you'll get your 4 grand's worth - especially for those tourists who have seen witnessed some cultural diversity across the world and are not too shocked by the scenes of hardship, poverty and ...

... the words from "there were 2 last bottles of beer we drank" to "finding teddies in the park is so much fun"; their English is quite basic at this age so I can mostly get away with it! My morning reading sessions have become quite popular with the local goat herdsmen who use the walk through the centre to shepherd the goats to the sparse pastures around the centre; I now have a regular audience as they stop outside the windows, peer in and grin their toothless smile ...

... was warm and you could walk to the edge of the reef in sturdy foot ware (because of the urchins) where the sea was brimming with beautiful fish.  The hotel could provide you with wind surfers,  small sailing boats, snorkels masks and fins. You could book all sorts of trips in the hotel but we booked our Safari against their wishes with a contact given to us from one of the beach Lads that prowled the beach  each side of the hotels beach ...

... have not learnt all the names yet but there are 15 kids 3-5 y.o. and 3 babies. I have my favourites they are.......15 kids and 3 babies....you get the picture, as i have said on the phone to friends and family i nearly lost it emotionally on the first day about three times and actually did once, today was better untill we got to read a backround book on the kids lives so far, they range from abandonment to deaths in the immediate ...
