On Sat 14th we left Udaipur and made the 280km trek to Pushkar, with more mishaps along the way !! First after 3 hours on the road we pulled in for some breakfast in a roadside "diner" and after breakfast I took off my watch, laid it on the table and put on some sunscreen, all of a sudden a kid snatched the watch off the table and dissapeared into a crowd of people.............. end of watch that I recieved as a birthday present 4 years ago from Roseanne ...
Pushkar, India killucan2HI everyone! Looks like I got it to work this time. Last night I spent about 20 minutes writing and then it wouldn't go through. Oh well. Well, we arrived in Mumbai on the night of the 25th. The 20 hour plane ride wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think that two Nyquil right before boarding might be the way to go from now on. I slept most of the way. I met Amy in Mumbai. It turns out that finding a blonde in India is no problem. She ...
Mumbai, Jaiper, Pushkar, India maureengribbleNamaste, After cruising through the dessert the last 3 days we finally reached some sort of civilisation again and are unwinding at the moment in the marvellous blue city of Jodhpur in the heart of Rajasthan. As we left amritsar the landsacpe reminded me more and more of australia and with it, our lifestyle changed back to how it was back on oz. We camped out in the dessert (or savanna or however u want to call it) at night, cruised all day on ...
Jodhpur, India tino84... One can see the arms, dress and other royal things which Kings and queens used in their times. Most amazing is the arms collection section , where one can see all types of small and big arms of ancient times. The dress section is too awsome to beleive.
Jaipur, India ishita_singhHad a flying visit through Jodphur - arriving late at night and leaving at lunch time the next day. The hotel we stayed at very basic - room was cell like with bars on the windows. We got some sleep sheets made in Udaipur that came in very useful for keeping out bed bugs! Still, it was only 2 quid a night so shouldn't complain! For breakfast we had the local speciality of saffron lassi's (yoghurt ...
Jodhpur, India markandlydiaI've been in Jodhpur three days and am enjoying it much more than Jaisalmer. Given its size and secure place on the tourist map, it's remarkably laid-back and tout-free: the main budget-hotel area within the old city walls has barely a handful of tourist shops; instead you can walk the streets and alleys immersing yourself in everyday Indian life. I have a rooftop room in a friendly guesthouse; its position is perfect for catching a cool breeze mornings ...
Jodhpur, India wanderingkat... especially when we saw one doing what looked like a David Brent pose sat on the wall! Saw plenty of peacocks.... i honestly never knew these things could fly... until I saw one at the top of a 50ft tree looking quite chilled out. I was rather amazed. Lots of deer, ferrit looking creatures and birds. After 45 minutes of rough as you like driving, the guide picked up some paw prints and we followed them down a track ...

Rajastan, India jordanblair100We arrived in Pushkar, our last stop in Rajasthan, expecting a quiet little city surrounding a holy lake. We found a beautiful little town surrounding a holy lake, but it sure isn't quiet ;) The calls of the brick-a-brack salespeople, barbers, and fruit sellers mix with the invitations by Hindu priests to receive a blessing by the water, the small children begging and "playing" instruments for food/money and the Sadu's calls for "Baksheesh" all turn your stroll through the towns little ...
Pushkar, India virginieandpaul... us their number in cse anything happened and we needed their help! The latest scams involve poisened biscuits which they open in front of you so they look safe but you need a doctor within 20 minutes which they are only too happy to help with. The other is friendly people who invite you into their homes and henna your hands for free etc and then ask for a donation to their temple (pocket) which you might refuse and then the henna painting costs 400 rupees when ...
