We woke to another beautiful day and after breakfast we walked into town. The harbour area was just as pretty as we remembered it and also the big square. Cloudy with some late afternoon drizzle, 14-22deg, 0km, tot. 1430km. We are staying with Guido and Magda in their lovely house in a rural setting 19km north of Brussels. We checked in, dropped off our bags, and headed to the bus center for a bus to the Market Square. For 10 euros ...

So there are two buildings, one from the 15th and one from the 20th century that looked almost identical. The guide was really good with information like this-he was a retired teacher who clearly enjoyed taking people for walks around his town. The walk ...

    Why this trip?

... with the thought of going back as soon as possible. But real life caught up with me, as it tends to do, and school and work are keeping me in Belgium until the end of June.

I've been wanting to visit New York and New England for so long I can't really remember a time when I didn't want to. That sounds overstated partly because it is – I mean, I'm sure my six-year-old self had no real notion of the U.S. and very little interest in spending eight hours on ...
